Add a watermark to a PDF with your own text, like DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL, or with a logo image. Adjust opacity, angle and size, and stamp it once or tile it across each page.
How to add a watermark to a PDF
- Click "Choose file" and select your PDF.
- Type your watermark text or pick a PNG or JPG image.
- Set opacity, angle, size and placement, choose the pages, then click "Add watermark".
- Click "Download" to save the watermarked PDF.
Settings that work well
For a DRAFT or SAMPLE stamp, try diagonal up, large size and around 20–30% opacity: clearly visible, but the text underneath stays readable. Tiled placement repeats the mark across the whole page, which makes it harder to crop out of a screenshot. Centred placement is cleaner for a single logo.
For image watermarks, a PNG with a transparent background works best, because only the logo shows instead of a white box around it. Opacity goes from 5% for a faint mark to 100% for a solid stamp.
What a watermark can and can't do
A watermark is drawn on top of the page. It tells readers the document is a draft or belongs to you, and it discourages casual copying. It is not a security feature: someone with a PDF editor can remove it. For sensitive documents, also control who receives the file.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use my logo as a watermark?
Yes. Choose image instead of text and pick a PNG or JPG. A transparent PNG gives the cleanest result.
Can I watermark only certain pages?
Yes. Choose specific pages and type the numbers or ranges, such as 1, 4-6. Other pages are left untouched.
Which angles are available?
Horizontal, diagonal up, diagonal down and vertical. Diagonal is the usual choice for stamps like DRAFT.
Can I write the watermark in any language?
Not yet. Text watermarks support Latin characters only for now. If you need another script, save the text as a PNG image and use the image option.
Can someone remove the watermark?
Yes, with enough effort. It sits on top of the page content, so PDF editing software can delete it. Treat it as a clear label and a deterrent, not as protection.
What is the output file called?
Your original name with "-watermarked" added, for example proposal-watermarked.pdf. The original file stays as it was.
Does it work on phones and offline?
Yes. It runs in iPhone and Android browsers and works offline after your first visit. Very large PDFs, roughly over 200 MB, may be slow on phones.
