Split a PDF into several smaller files by page range, in fixed-size chunks, or one file per page. The work happens in your browser, so you can separate PDF pages without sending the document anywhere.

How to split a PDF

  1. Click "Choose file" and select the PDF you want to split.
  2. Pick a mode: "Custom ranges", "Every N pages" or "Every page".
  3. Type your ranges or chunk size, check the preview, then click "Split PDF".
  4. Click "Download" for a single file, or "Download ZIP" if several were created.

Which split mode should I use?

Use "Custom ranges" when you know exactly which pages belong together, such as pulling chapters out of a report. Type something like 1-3, 5, 8- and each range becomes its own file, created in the order you typed. 8- means page 8 to the end. Ranges may overlap, so the same page can appear in two outputs.

Use "Every N pages" for regular chunks, for example splitting a 40-page batch of scanned forms into 2-page files. Use "Every page" when you need one PDF per page.

Typos are caught before you split

A live preview tells you how many PDFs will be created. If a range is invalid, for example backwards (5-2), past the last page, or starting at 0, the problem is explained right under the box so you can fix it first.

Frequently asked questions

How are the split files named?

Names are based on the original and the pages each file contains. A range gives names like report-pages-1-3.pdf, and single pages look like report-page-07.pdf.

Why did I get a ZIP file?

When a split produces more than one PDF, they are bundled into one ZIP so you download a single file. If only one PDF is created, you get it directly.

Can I split a PDF by page range on my phone?

Yes. It works in iPhone and Android browsers. Very large files, over roughly 200 MB, may be slow or fail on phones because of memory limits.

Will splitting lower the quality?

No. Pages are copied into the new files as they are, so text stays selectable and images aren't recompressed.

Can I split a password-protected PDF?

Not yet. Password-protected files can't be opened by the tool for now. Unlocking support is planned.

Does it work offline?

Yes. After your first visit the site is stored on your device, so you can split files with no connection. It can be installed like a regular app on a desktop computer or an Android phone, too.
