How to merge PDF files

  1. Click "Choose files" and pick two or more PDFs, or drop them onto the page.
  2. Drag the rows into the order you want the documents to appear.
  3. Click "Merge PDFs".
  4. Click "Download" to save the combined file.

What is kept and what isn't

Each page keeps its original size, orientation and rotation, so a landscape chart stays landscape next to portrait text pages. Links and annotations are generally carried over.

Bookmarks (the outline panel some PDFs have) are not copied into the merged file. If two PDFs contain fillable forms with the same field names, those fields may conflict, so a value typed in one can show up in the other. Fill and flatten forms first if that matters.

Reordering without a mouse

You can sort the list with the keyboard too. Tab to a row's drag handle, press Space to pick it up, move it with the arrow keys and press Space again to drop it. Screen readers announce each new position.

Frequently asked questions

How many PDFs can I merge at once?

There is no fixed limit and no daily cap. The practical limit is your device's memory. On a phone, keep the total under about 200 MB; desktop browsers can handle more.

What will the merged file be called?

It takes the name of the first file in the list and adds "-merged". For example, if invoice.pdf is first, you get invoice-merged.pdf. You can rename it after downloading.

Can I merge photos or scans saved as JPG?

This tool accepts PDFs only. To turn images into a PDF, use JPG to PDF. You can then merge that PDF with others here.

Does merging reduce quality?

No. Pages are copied as they are, not re-rendered, so text stays sharp and searchable. There is no watermark on the result.

Can I merge PDFs on my iPhone or Android phone?

Yes. It works in Safari, Chrome and other mobile browsers. You can also install the site as an app on Android and use it offline.

Why won't one of my files merge?

Password-protected PDFs can't be processed yet. Remove that file from the list, or open it in a PDF reader, save an unlocked copy and add it again.
